iTunes Credit Card Scam Busted – 19 British Musicians Involved
A group of DJs based in the UK has been arrested as they have allegedly used iTunes bought with stolen/fraudulent credit cards so that they can give a boost to their chart rankings and also to steal the royalty fee.
According to the reports, nine British musicians provided 19 songs to ‘Tunecore’, an American distributor that used Apple iTunes and Amazon for the sale of those songs.
The DJs then opened accounts on these sites with cloned or stolen credit cards in order to purchase their own albums and later they revived $300,000 in the form of royalty in just few months. Also the sales of their albums boosted the chart rankings and resulted in more sales and again created huge royalties for them.
After a few months, Apple started receiving ‘stop payment’ orders from concerned card companies warning that the cards were fraudulent. After this, Apple contacted the police and during the investigation the account holders were found to be based in the U.K
