On June 29, 2007, Apple launched its highest hype machine in the electronic gadget market - iPhone. Right from the pre-launch publicity campaigns to the official launch, Apple shrewdly everybody’s appetite for the iPhone by revealing the very attractive design keeping most of the details shrouded in mystery. So, what iPhone is all about?

The key features of an iPhone are that it has three function-abilities - a mobile phone, an ipod with wide screen and a wireless internet browsing device. Till now, apple has introduced three generations of cheap iPhone – iPhone (4gb/8gb), iPhone 3G & iPhone 3GS (both available with 16gb/32gb). Although, Apple products are very expensive, but iphones are now available for low prices online.

Features –

The operating software of iPhones is known as iPhone OS, it was developed by Apple itself.

The dimension of this device are - W4.5” x D4” x H0.46” and it weighs only 4.8 ounces. This device is not exactly small, though the design is really slim that adds to its appeal.

The core of this high-tech device is its 3.5 inches touch screen. Its screen caused a little controversy as it provides no tactile feedback that can make it’s users less secure about the information they enter.

The Battery is internal rechargeable and it is not user-replaceable. It can be charged by connecting it to a computer by syncing it with a USB.

Initially, iPhone was released with two options - 4 GB and 8 GB, but now you can have it in 16GB and 32GB too.

Its interface has a graphical list of applications that run one at a time. The screen has following icons – Messages, Photos, Camera, YouTube, Maps, Weather and many more.

This device allows audio conferencing, call waiting/holding and integration with other cellular network. It can sort the media library by artists, songs, albums, playlists, videos, genres etc.
The camera is located on the back (the 3G S has a new feature ‘auto-focus’ that is not available in other models). With its many cool apps, you can upload, view, and e-mail your snaps.

The Pros –

1. It has great storage capacities; the minimum storage capacity is 8GB and goes up to 32GB.
2. The features are very attractive – the design is slim, tactile sensors, move sliders, scroll through windows and many more.
3. The camera is just amazing shaming other camera-phones.
4. A fully-functional internet connection via either cable or any WiFi connection.
5. The interface is designed for utmost ease

The Cons -

1. Possibility of bugs and software errors.
2. Price, this is the biggest negative factor.
3. Initially, the phone comes locked (bound to remain with official telecom partner), though you may get your piece unlocked by paying few bucks.
4. Content from iTunes is very expensive for iPhone.

Types of iphones

16gb iphone - This iPhone support in multiple languages. It comes with GPS for limited purposes with great sound quality with the redesigned headphone port.

8gb iphone - Great device, it has new antennas and cellular chips, while the exterior has a sleeker design. It happily supports the third part software.
